Nicole Millar is one pretty impressive gal since she somehow managed to thrust herself into the heart of the music industry without actually creating any original music of her own. Now, you may think that we at SK have officially lost our minds but hear us out and I’m sure you’ll be just as impressed as we are.
If the name ‘Nicole Millar’ seems familiar then let me enlighten you with some of her most recent achievements and collaborations: High by Peking Duk, Tell Me by Golden Features and a number of tracks by Cosmo’s Midnight. All the songs have a massive following but the most success was achieved from High which went triple platinum and peaked at number five on the ARIA charts. The best part about all these remarkable hits is that Millar created them all without even having a song of her own. Until now.
‘Wait’ is the first of many tracks by Millar that makes you realise how she got to the top without anything to back her up but her silky vocals and impressive squad. The song starts with Millar’s distinct vocals cutting through soft synths. From there the song builds into a brooding pop song that sounds similar to the likes of ‘Broods’ or ‘Lorde’. I think my only reservation with the song is the ending as it seems to end too soon or too fast but otherwise the song is a brilliant debut for such a stunning artist that I know we will be seeing a lot more of in the future.
